- Cost saving has taken a clear lead over compliance as the main business driver for investments in document and records management, with 50% of users opting for cost saving as the biggest diver compared to 34% for compliance (last year, 44% compared to 39%)
- 56% of organizations still have little or no confidence that important emails are recorded, complete and recoverable (62% in 2008). Specifically, 27% consider email attachments to be “very unmanaged”.
- 28% of organizations would take more than a month to produce documents for a legal discovery process.
In de voorlopige resultaten komt ook SharePoint ruim aan bod:
- 6% of respondents admitted that SharePoint was working “in competition” with their existing ECM, DM or RM suites, with a further 23% preferring the term “in parallel”. 15% have SharePoint integrated with their existing suites, or sitting on top of their existing repository, 12% have adopted SharePoint as their only ECM suite.
- The Records Management department is driving and controlling SharePoint in just 7% of organizations. In 43% IT is in command but with input from Records Management. IT rule on their own in 32% of organizations, but 12% admit that no one is in charge, and it’s completely out-of-control.
Open Source krijgt nog niet veel aandacht.
- As regards dealing with universal access to existing content repositories, 34% plan to migrate to a single ECM system, whereas 35% plan to use a single sign-on portal, of which 20% plan to utilize SharePoint as the portal, 12% will use a non-SharePoint application and 3% will use Open Source. 10% state they will use Enterprise Search to solve this problem.
